The Paper Demon account is up, Keep an eye out for my comics. I am posting some stuff that's here, and some stuff that will NOT BE POSTED here. AND, I know it will actually be seen! Wow, what a concept. I love it there already, and DA is a great feather in one's cap to the art world....
BUT......
I feel like a kid who's been betrayed by their parents that used to give total 100% love everyday, then tells you one day: "By the way, you're adopted we're giving you back, so shut up and sit down and take it up the A$$."

Wow. That became a very bitter sentence. DA is making me more and more bitter every time I come online.

NOW, I don't mean the bulk of the artists/writers here, I mean the way things are getting run now. It seems to me that many great artists here that don't kiss ass or do sensationalist art get ANY recognition. I don't think I'm an accomplished artist by far, I will continue to improve until I am a very old lady. I don't want favs up the wahzoo, or a million watchers, or my counter to read in the millions. (Pa-lease)

I just want some legitimate comments, that isn't once in a blue moon.
I am a frequent DA butterfly, constantly zipping around randomly, commenting/faving. MANY of these artrists (not all, some are courteous)
NEVER return the favor. I don't care if you have 1,000 views or 1,000,000,000.
Be a human being and at least acknowledge someone that says something more than "Cool" "Awesome pic dude" "Hot, that' pic's so cooooool"
There are some very high hitters here that DO say thank you. Even if they don't speak my language, they at least pop an emoticon for god's sake! You know, common decency.

The point of joining DA for me, 6 years ago, is that it had certain standards and required artists and writers to communicate with each other, BRANCH out of their comfort zone, and meet different artists from their genre. You were REQUIRED to comment and post ART not crappy scans of stick figures and snap shots of their big toe, flanked by a thinly veiled photo piece labeled as 'artistic nude'.
YES I said it.
I'll say it again.

Deviant art has become a cesspool of 'anything that's posted is art'

It's all well and good if you want to show a crappy scan, or poloroid (I don't count the art pieces that are specifically using poloroid as tool/media to a greater piece of work.) But don't drown this site with nothing BUT that. Go join Facebook, MySpace, or some other Blog-hole. OR, SHOCK....MAKE YOUR OWN WEBPAGE and hot link it TO a My Space, Facebook-like site. Bam! Instant web fame.
Yes,*I* have a My Space, but I am no blog-addict desiring to be the next Tila Tequila. It's there for business-rep-networking, and honestly, it's the only way I can keep up on some friends/family across the country.

For those of you that have only been on DA for 4 years or less=
Originally this site was made to house all kinds of artists and writers as a co-op of open critiques and pieces to share, not be bogged down with popularity contests. It was to better your style, and have an open forum with a plethora of artists and writers to pick their brains, and vice versa. There were upload standards, quality controls, but STILL you could express yourself to the fullest extent of your voice.
The standards meant that you couldn't just post 30-50 images a day, spamming everyone's inbox to death--You had to comment as much as you posted as well. You couldn't post something that looked like it sat at the bottom of your backpack all day, and certainly, if you posted something sexual you were HONEST about it.

Now, I love sexual art and quite frankly, we need porn, smex, and nudity as a society to function. YES I said THAT too.
However, be HONEST about what you're posting.
I have nothing against any one group of art. But when ONE type is getting all the attention, and other artists are virtually invisible, can you see my frustration? Maybe if DA had two sites, one for mature, (like Paper Demon) and one for your 'regular art' both sites would still get tons of equal attention. How can a vivid metal sculpture that took ages to complete compete with two naked figures grinding in low light?
The same goes for the rampant anime fanart. I enjoy anime, but I'm ready to bleed out my eyes if I see one more Naruto, FF, or Bleach pic.

Censorship is evil. VERY evil. But DA is far to large now to just LUMP EVERYTHING TOGETHER.

One last thing:
Once upon a time--you had to be an ACTUAL creator of art or lit, not just a passerby that thinks: Oh boy, free art to steal and post as mine! Or, I'll get to look at naked ladies, but it's an art site, so it's OK to spam the hell out of this site like My Space. Again, when there were standards *coughJarkcough* you could pinpoint and ban art thieves and space parasites much better. Since when were people allowed to join just LOOK and not create? These people just baffle me, since you can view art/ read literature here without a space. Oh. right. You can't view MATURE art unless you join. Idiots.
It just seems like DA has gone down the drain.

Maybe I'm too cynical, and I don't mean to come off like a jealous bitch, but the only reason I keep my DA account is to link it to my resume.
And to keep up on a handful of artist friends that are here.
That's it.
